At Higgins Coatings, we spend a lot of time in people’s homes—garages, workshops, spaces that take a beating but also matter more than most people realize. And somewhere along the way, we started asking ourselves a simple question:
What if every floor we installed did more than just look good?
That’s where Coatings for a Cause came from.
Starting this month, every garage floor we install will help support a local nonprofit. Not as a one-time promotion, but as something we build into how we do business going forward. Each month, we’ll partner with a different organization doing real work in the community—and for April, we’re proud to be working with the Kansas Humane Society.
Supporting the Kansas Humane Society
If you’ve ever adopted a pet, volunteered, or even just walked through a shelter, you know how much goes into giving these animals a second chance. It’s not just about finding homes—it’s food, medical care, clean spaces, and the day-to-day effort of keeping animals healthy and safe while they wait.
That’s where this campaign becomes more than just a feel-good idea.
When you book your garage floor coating in April, a portion of that project goes directly toward supporting that work. And while it’s easy to think of a donation as just a number, the reality is it adds up quickly. Around $100 can help cover things like a few weeks of food for a dog, vaccinations that protect them from common illnesses, or the basic medical care they need when they first come in.
In other words—one garage floor can help move a dog one step closer to being adopted.
What You Get (Beyond a Great Floor)
Of course, you’re still getting everything you expect from a professionally coated floor. A clean, durable surface that holds up to daily use, resists stains and cracks, and actually makes your space feel finished instead of forgotten. It’s built for real life—cars, tools, muddy paws, all of it.
But this month, it comes with something extra. A little more purpose behind the project.
Why We’re Doing This
This is just the start for us. We’re planning to continue this each month, partnering with different nonprofits and causes that deserve more visibility and support. Some will be animal-focused, others might support schools, families, or local initiatives—but the goal stays the same: do good while doing what we already do well.
